Late/Absence Procedures

At St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, we work hard to ensure our school day starts smoothly for all children. On a normal day, we open the doors on the playground at 8.45am to allow for a 'soft landing' approach to start the day. If children arrive after 9.00am they will need to be brought to the school office. If your child arrives after this time they will be marked late in the register.

If your child misses the start of the day they can miss work and do not spend time with their class teacher getting vital information and news for the day. Late arriving pupils also disrupt lessons, which can be embarrassing for the child and can in turn, encourage absence. Being 10 minutes late every day throughout the academic year is the same as missing two weeks of school.

If your child is poorly and needs to be at home, please contact school as soon as possible - no later then 10am. There is an answerphone service where you can leave an absence message.

Please see the policies page for our Attendance Policy.
