Welcome to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Wrightington September 2024….we can’t wait to see you!
Hello,
Welcome to St Joseph’s, especially to those of you looking at our school for September 2024. Hopefully, you will find lots of useful information on our website…particularly on this part which is just for you! This section of the website will continue to be updated.
We know that you need to make a very, very big decision…..where is best for your little one to begin their school life? Where will they be happy?
We welcome visits and tours of our school anytime. Please call or email to book a convenient time.
We have included a virtual tour of the school to show our school at its best….. when it is alive with children and fun!
We offer a full transition programme which is made up of an induction meeting in the hall; a chance for Parents to meet with all of the different people involved with school…The School Kitchen, The School Nurse, our Uniform Provider and Club Joey’s. Our induction sessions are one of our favourite events of the year…welcoming our new children. We hold ‘Stay & Play’ sessions giving the new children the chance to come and meet with their new classmates and teachers; we introduce our new children to their Year 6 Buddies – this is always very popular; Lunchtime in school – where you can come in with your child to experience a school lunch eaten in the school hall.
Please check our X page: @stjosephswright and our Facebook page: St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Wrightington. Both of these are full of the exciting things that we do in school and will demonstrate to you what a close community we have here at school.
Please do not hesitate to contact school: school.info@st-josephs-wrightington.lancs.sch.uk or by telephone on 01257 423092.
We can’t wait to welcome you all! Take care
Miss Gleeson and all of the Staff at St Joseph's x
What is the Lancashire Early Years Reading Quality Mark?
The Reading Award is an opportunity to reflect on and improve your practice and provision using our award materials and training with Mentor support. The self-evaluative reflective tool will support practitioners to fully consider the key skills required for learning and developing within the reading aspect. Enjoying books and reading stories from a very early age is crucial in the development of children. It helps with their ability to understand words, use their imagination and develop their speech, as well as being something they really enjoy. LQA in Early reading encapsulates reading as an integral element of the early years curriculum and builds on children's enjoyment of story and develops practitioners subject knowledge to support effective teaching of reading in the early years. The award is embedded within everyday routines and children's play supporting practitioners to be confident in their subject knowledge and therefore better at recognising learning opportunities in children's play.
